ABOUT ME

“Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.”

—STEVE JOBS

I’m Heather Dunford—a Creative Director and Graphic Designer with more than 20 years of experience turning ideas into thoughtful, purposeful visual experiences.

My work lives at the intersection of creativity, strategy, and production. I enjoy taking a project from that first conversation or rough idea and shaping it into something clear, compelling, and beautifully executed. Whether it’s a brand identity, an annual report, a marketing campaign, a direct-mail piece, a website, or a publication, I believe the best design isn’t simply something that looks good—it’s something that works.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work across a wide range of industries and projects, developing everything from complete brand identities and integrated marketing campaigns to print publications, direct mail, digital media, websites, photography, and large-format materials. My experience in commercial printing has also given me a deep understanding of what happens after a design leaves the screen—from prepress and color management to production, finishing, and the final printed piece.

That perspective has shaped the way I design. I think about the big picture while obsessing over the small details. I care about typography, hierarchy, composition, color, consistency, and all the seemingly tiny decisions that can turn good design into great design.

I’m naturally curious, endlessly detail-oriented, and probably a little too excited about a perfectly aligned grid. I love solving visual problems, simplifying complicated information, building cohesive brands, and finding the idea that makes a project click.

Most importantly, I believe good design should have a reason behind it.

It should communicate. It should connect. It should make an impression. And it should make people feel something.

That’s what I strive to create—design with intention, purpose, and just enough personality to make it memorable.

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME

When I’m not designing, I’m usually spending time with the people I love, working on another creative project, dreaming up a new home design (because apparently designing one thing at a time is not enough), or wondering if there’s such a thing as too much attention to detail.

There probably is.

I haven't found it yet.
